I want to make a website, and my conditions are that it has to be free and online, and I really want the URL to not have the name of the site generator in it. Like how freewebs makes you have freewebs.com/yoursitename? I dont want that, so it would be really helpful if you could not direct me to sites that make me do that.

You cannot get your own site name for free, but go to, and you can get webhosting pretty cheap, and with your own site name.
You can use a service like at ewebsitesolutions.com – you pay once a year for the domain (yoursite.com), like $10 a year – then they give you free tools for blogging, website maker, email, hosting and so forth. Most of those do place ads on your site though.
To avoid having the host’s name as part of the URL, you need to purchase a domain name from a place like otherwise, you’re stuck with their domain name in your URL.
You have to pay for a domain name. No free host is going to give you your own domain name for free and while you might find some that will give you a .tk address for “free”, you’ll find there’s some catch, such as having to use their hosting or display their ads.
Godaddy will charge you about $8 per year for a domain name; new names are often discounted significantly.
As I understand it, FreeWebs will allow you to use your domain name with their free hosting.

If you are currently a paid Internet subscriber, you are entitled to a “homepage” which often contains simple navigation and editing tools. You can easily generate a full-blown website as a Homepage. Nevertheless, the “homepage” URL is likely to be “http://homepage.earthlink.com/subscriber name” and that URL can easily be overwritten via a redirection service, i.e., “mydomain.com” which allows you to link any registered domain name to “mask” another website. For example, should you type in “domainname.com”, you will be immediately transported to the homepage and the hompage URL of name will be masked by the domainname.com. And the charge for the redirection service [even at godaddy.com] is normally free. Here’s a demonstration: Type in the URL window: “www.pizzanextdoor.com” which will bring up their pizza website. Take note of the domain name. Then type in the URL window: “http://home.pacbell.net/vten/1a/pizzamenu.html” and you will see that this is the original homepage which is unmasked without the domain name! Good luck!
