Try the classifieds of the local paper. Most newspapers publish online now as well.
Yahoo Jobs also lists local jobs.

Everyone uses Monster and others. The trick is to stand out from the crowd. Look for a company (see fortune 500 best companies to work for). Then find one that is in your area that your skills would fit into. Then call the company and ask to speak to the supervisor of the department that you would like to work for. Introduce yourself to the person properly and tell them that you have heard excellent things about the company and that you have a vast amount of experience and skills that you have to offer the company (be prepared to list them) and that you would like to set up an appointment to meet with them or an assistant to discuss these skills and a possibility for employment. Offer to take them out to lunch, doesn’t have to be fancy, but it shouldn’t be McDs either. Present them with your resume inside a document cover. Be ready to explain your many skills and attributes (list them ahead of time at home). Once finished, shake their hand and thank them for their time and smile. Don’t forget to smile before, during and after. No one wants to hire an uncomfortable person, it makes them uncomfrotable and they wouldn’t want to be around someone like that for8hours of the day. You may not get the job right away but when it comes time for them to hire, they will know exactly who you are when they are looking at so many resumes because you will stand out. It has worked for me. This way you get into a company the YOU want to be in and not one that you simply found out of luck.
